Oakville Little League crowns the 2011 Adam Fedoruk Memorial CANAM Champions

Congratulations to the Ontario Nationals for winning the 2011 Adam Fedoruk Memorial CANAM Tournament. The Ontario Nationals defeated the host team, the Oakville Whitecaps 12U team in the finals on Sunday afternoon. The tournament was highlighted by a special ceremony in memory of Adam and an announcement that Oakville Little League has started a Post Secondary Grant in Adam's memory. The grant will go to a player in the league based on a pre-determined set of criteria and conditions which will be determined over the coming months and published on the web site. The lucky recipient will be presented with this award by Mr Fedoruk at the annual Adam Fedoruk CANAM Memorial Tournament every year.

Mr Fedoruk and Adam's Grandmother were in attendance at the Championship Final. Mr Fedoruk presented the championship trophy to the Ontario Nationals.

Welcome to the 2011 Adam Fedoruk Memorial CAN/AM Tournament

Minor-CelebrationOakville Little League is proud to be hosting the some of the best teams of 12-year old baseball players from around Ontario and Western New York the weekend of August 12th-14th as they compete for the 2011 Adam Fedorok Memorial CAN/AM Tournament championship. 

The first games will be played on Friday, August 12th, ending with the championship game on the Sunday afternoon. Games will be played at various Oakville Little Leauge fields around Oakville.  The consolation championship and the championship final will be played at the Oakville Little League Field of Dreams in Cornwall Park.

An Open Invitation to all 12U Baseball Team Managers and Coaches

On behalf of Oakville Little League we would like to invite you to play in the 13th Annual Adam Fedoruk Memorial CAN/AM Tournament being held the August 12th-14th, 2011.

The tournament, one of the premiere 12 & under baseball tournaments in Ontario, is open to all 12-year old baseball teams across Canada and the United States, regardless of national affiliation (Little League, USSSA, ECTB, Cal Ripken, OBA, etc.). Our goal is to provide the highest level of competition in a fun, friendly and family-oriented setting.

The tournament was established as a lasting tribute to Adam Fedoruk, a young player in Oakville Little League who absolutely loved baseball. Tragically, Adam died suddenly, along with his sister and mother, in a house fire on August 17, 1998. This tournament is a celebration of all that this young player embodied; characteristics typically found in the young people who play in Little League - dedication, sportsmanship, teamwork and fair play.

And so, we invite you to take the field with us - play for fun, play for the love of the game, and play for Adam.

In the past, the tournament has drawn teams from Ontario, New York and Michigan. Many teams return on an annual basis. Players must be 12-years old or younger between May 1, 1996 and April 30th, 1997. For the teams coming from the United States, we think it would be a great way to end the season by participating in this wonderful memorial tournament dedicated to Adam.

The tournament is played in Oakville, Ontario.  Oakville is located on the shores of Lake Ontario, 30-minutes west of downtown Toronto and just 45 minutes from the United States border crossing at Lewiston, New York. 

The tournament games are played on very well maintained ball fields with grass infields, red clay pitching mounds & basepaths, 200-foot outfield fences and enclosed dugouts.  The tournament will include activities such as, raffle draws, food concessions and souvenir stand.

The Tournament format is as follows:

  • All teams are guaranteed  to play three (3) games throughout the weekend
  • All games are played until a winner is determined.
  • There will be Championship and Consolation games played

Tournament Champions receive a Championship trophy for their league to keep.  All players in the Championship and Consolation finals receive trophies. All players playing in the tournament receive an Adam Fedoruk Memorial pin and hot dog and drink tickets after your games played on Saturday and Sunday.

Deadline for registration is Monday, July 25th, 2011.
