Brockville Braves eliminate Carleton-Russell Aces

game-8-001The Brockville Braves scoroed 7-runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to eliminate the Carleton-Russell Aces from the 2009 Little League Ontario Minor Championship.  The final score was 14-3. Leading the way at the plate for Brockville was Gareg\d Fenlong who went 4-for-4 with a homerun, a double, 3-RBI and four runs scored. AJ Barton added a walk-off two-run homerun, his second of the tournament.  Winning pitcher was Darcy Slack.

Ryan Wells led the offence for the Aces going 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Losing pitcher was Justin Emond.

With the win Brockville advances to play another elimination game tomorrow at 4:30 against the host Oakville Whitecaps.

 

Jansen pitches complete game, Oakville advances

game-7-001Oakville Whitecaps eliminated the East Nepean Eagles from the 2009 Little League Ontario Minor Championship on the strength of a complete game by their starting pitcher Owen Jansen.  Jansen went the distance in the 5-0 win.  Oakville scored three in the bottom of the first innng and made some great defensive plays to shutdown the Eagles whenever they threatened to comeback.

The losing pitcher for East Nepean was Ryan Telford.

With the win, Oakville advances to play another elimination game tomorrow at 4:30 against the winner of the game between the Cartleton-Russell Aces and the Brockville Braves.

   

Carleton-Russell eliminates Timmins Lynx

game-6-002The Carleton-Russell Aces pounded the Timmins Lynx 18-7 to eliminate the Lynx from the 2009 Little League Ontario Minor Championship.  Tyler Seguin led the Aces attack going 2-for3 with two doubles.  Winning pitcher was Justin Edmond.

For Timmins, Trevor Frappier got an inside the park 3-run home run.  Frappier was also the losing pitcher.  The loss was Timmins second eliminating them from the tournament.

Carleton-Russell advances to play the Brockville Braves tomorrow at 3:00 PM in an elimnation game for both teams. 

   

Windsor pounds East Nepean setting up showdown with High Park

game-5-001The Windsor South Canadians pounded out eleven hits over four innings to beat the East Nepean Eagles 15-5.  Windsor was lead at the plate by Juston Mladenowski who went 3-for-3 with a triple, a walk and three runs scored and by Matthew Abbruzzese who went 3-for-3 with a triple, three RBI and two runs scored.  Abbruzzese was also the winning pitcher.

The win by Windsor sets up a showdown of the undefeated against Toronto's High Park Braves on Tuesday, August, 4th at 1:30 PM.

Jake Surrettt lead the East Nepean hitters going 1-for-3 with two RBI. Losing pitcher was Nick Koehler-Grasseau.  East Nepean plays the host Oakville Whitecaps tomorrow August 1st at noon.  The loser will be eliminated from the double-elimination tournament.

   

High Park wins battle of the Braves beating Brockville 12-2

game-4-007In the battle of the Braves at the 2009 Little League Ontario Minor Championship in Oakville, High Park defeated Brockville 12-2 to remain undefeated in the double elimination tournament.

High Park blew the game open scoring five runs in the second inning when Julian Tynochko belted a bases-loaded double that cleared the bases.  Tymochko lead the High Park attack going 2-for-3 with a double, three RBI, a walk and two runs scored.  The wiining pitcher was Thomas Mienkowski who struckout five in two innings of work.

AJ Barton of Brockville hit the first homerun of the tournament pounding a monster solo homerun to rightfield in the 2nd inning that was probably over 250 feet.  The losing pitcher was Connor Kelly.

High Park's next game will be Tuesday, August 4th at 1:30 against the winner of the game between the East Nepean Eagles and the Windsor South Canadians being played today at noon. 

Brockville will be figting for their tournament lives when the play a sudden-death game tomorrow at 3:00 PM against the winner today's game between the Carleton-Russell Aces and the Timmins Lynx.

   

High Park defeats Oakville to open tournament

game-3-001The High Park Braves opened the 2009 Little League Ontario Minor Championship with a 10-0 win over the host team Oakville Whitecaps.

Taka Ryan lead the High Park offence going 2-for-3 with double and three RBI.  His double broke open the game as High scored six runs in the thrid inning.Winning pitcher for High Park was Chrs Procopio who pitched 2 2/3 innings in relief striking out 7 Oakville batters.

Losing pitcher was Oakville's starter John Carson as he fought his command all game long.  The defensive play of the game was by Oakville shortstop Justin McKenna who made a driving-sliding catch to rob High Park's Thomas Mienkowski in the second inning.

High Park move on to play the Brockville Braves tomorrow at 9:00 AM.  Oakville fights to stay in the double-elimination tournament when they play the loser of Sunday's game between the East Nepean Eagles and the Windsor South Canadians.  The game will be played Monday, August 3rd at noon.
